Hauraki Singlehanded Series and SSANZ Singlehanded division in Route 66.

1 October 2012

Route66 Coastal Race

The Route 66 is Richmond Yacht Club's "short" coastal race - from Auckland to Whangarei over 66nm. Organised in association with Onerahi YC and SSANZ, the race now includes both a fully crewed and a singlehanded division.

With a 9AM start you'll finish Friday evening with time to join in the party at Marsden Cove Marina. This is a good introduction to coastal racing for new boats as the safety requirements are Cat IV+ instead of the more stringent Cat III required for the Coastal Classic or Auckland to Tauranga races.

Hauraki Singlehanded Series

Hauraki Singlehanded SeriesRichmond YC is organizing a singlehanded racing series in conjunction with SSANZ, Devonport YC, Bucklands Beach YC, and Weiti BC. There are twelve races in the series and both extras and no-extras divisions. The series combines existing races from the participating clubs; however, to win the series you will have to venture out of your club.

The series will include a new challenge as well: codenamed "Highway 1" this new challenge is a singlehanded race run by SSANZ alongside the RYC Route 66 Coastal Race (66nm, Auckland to Whangarei).  "Highway 1" will be a test of your skills and preparations in a short-coastal format.
