B&G Simrad 60 forecast
03 Aug 2008
Racing is scheduled to start at 9am this morning. SSANZ is preparing to go ahead with racing but will constantly monitor conditions up to the start.
Ironically the chances are racing will be in more wind than what we actually got yesterday but the big difference is that conditions are forecast to improve as opposed to yesterday when a front was scheduled to hit the fleet late in the race.
Metservice says "For the Manukau and Waitemata Harbours:
Today: Northwest 35 knots gusting 45 knots, tending westerly this morning. Easing to 30 knots gusting 40 knots in the afternoon and to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the evening. Very rough sea, easing to rough in the afternoon. Poor visibility in squally showers, easing by midday."
Predictwind and metvew believe there will be less than this.
SSANZ would like all competitors to consider the capabilities of both their boat and crew before deciding to start.
